a state security patrol was targeted with open fire while chasing a group of drug dealer

The General Directorate of State Security –Section of Media, Orientation and Public Relations issued the following statement:
- On 02/02/2019, a state security patrol was targeted with open fire while chasing a group of drug dealer in a Kia Picanto car in the area of Nahr Ibrahim-Jbeil. The patrol responded in return, injuring one of the wanted men. The injured suspect was transferred to Sainte Martine Hospital in Jbeil, while the other suspects fled to an unknown destination. The car was seized with a quantity of heroin and marijuana. Further investigation is carried out to arrest the remaining fugitives.
- The General Directorate of State Security managed to arrest two Egyptian nationals in coordination with the competent judiciary in the region of Jbeil, for working within a network that facilitated the illegal entry of a large number of Egyptians, and eluding them with being able to provide residency and work permits in exchange for money. The suspects were detained at state security for further investigation.
